Kyle has successfully fled Pittsburgh and faked his own death. He moved to Italy to start a new life, realizing that returning to Toronto would mean having to deal with Justin Bieber. Facing uncertainty, he hoped this journey into the unknown would be transformative.

During his travels through different cities, Kyle discovered the joy of Italian cuisine, indulging in pasta and limoncello for a few months. He meets a Swedish friend who tells him about his cousin Henrik, who is hoping to go to America soon. He asks to be introduced, so that he would have at least one friend in the US. Still hiding his identity, he enjoyed the encounter, spending time with his new friends Victor Eklund and Anton Frondel.

In India, Kyle learns to pray and serve the community by introducing them to beer cheese samosas. Soon the rainy season arrives, so on a whim, he follows a group of surfers to Bali. There he finds a special flower that is smoked to provide ‘clarity’. The surfers challenge Dubas’s cautious side, and teach him that risks can be fun.

One morning, the group invite Kyle for a afternoon surf, but say they have to swing by the bank first. At first he was going to go, but while getting dressed he saw a news report of Dan Muse’s hiring. Something gives him hope, and he decided to decline and spend the day meditating. “There’s something on the horizon, and I need to be ready”, he thought.
