“Shame on you for a month of Sundays if you missed that last one!” The Penguins broke out of their scoring slump at ‘Centre Bell’ (French for ‘ClownSquad’) with a 6 goal 3rd period crushing the heads of Les Habs 9-2 on Wednesday night. Rust and Rakell each had 4 point nights with Rusty notching the 6th Hatty of his career and Ricki Racking up 2 golas and 2 asses. ‘Some other guy’ on the same line had a 3 ass evening as well. In case you were wondering, the last time the Birds have scored 6 goals in a single period was in 2023 when they hung 6 on Tampa. They’ve scored 6 goals in a single period 16 times in their team history. They’ve scored more than 3 goals in a single period 3 times since 1972.
Yours truly was in attendance at the Igloo the night they scored 7 against St. Louis in 1972. They still hold the record for the fastest 5 goals scored in the NHL from that game. “Dey owned da terd dat night I tell you, eh!”
Tonight the Pens are on the road again against another weak Eastern division team, the Ottawa Senators. This is a game they must win before facing the Kings, Devils and Flyers next week. I’m not including Nashville in that list from next week’s games because they are the worst team in the league which means of course there is a 99.99% probability the Pens will lose to them.
The Pens are currently only 2 points out of a playoff spot. If they plan to make a run at a playoff spot, they need to be in at least 4th place in the division before Santa arrives. Statistics show that if you aren’t in a playoff spot before Christmas, Santa usually shits down yer chimbly. Be warned, he eats a TON of cookies.
I just want to say thanks to all of yinz who signed up to help out on the blawg by comitting to writting a post or two. So far, I’ve only got a handfull of slots filled in but it’s a start. I’m gonna do my level best to try to keep this thing going but I’m hoping a lot more slots will be filled in before the new year begins.
