After being shut-out against the New Jersey Devils, the Penguins invited their neighbors to the East for an early Christmas Dinner. They called in Mama Malkin and Papa Crosby to bring all their traditional fixins. The Penguins were planning to head into the holidays in good spirits. Right, we’re sticking to the plan, right?
First Period –
First meeting of the year against the Flyers, so we have to feel them ouuuuh, Damn Rust, too soon. Before you can even steal a Christmas cookie, Crosby set up Rust, to take a slapper from the right side. 0- 1.
A stupid play by Pierre-Olivier Joseph prevented the Penguins from clearing the zone, and allowed Zamula to score on Jarry. 1-1. No fear, cause Sidney Clause came to save the da….ugh, gawd. That’s just too Dad-like, sorry. Crosby took a pass from Rust, and sets up Raks-City for a goal. However, one of Sidney’s nuts crossed the red line before the puck and the goal was dis-allowed. Tis alright though, because Rakell would later score on a tic-tock play with Rust and KARLsson. 1-2.
With less than 4 minutes left, the Penguins were not done. Enter Malkin into the chat. On the power play, Sid and Malkin set up Bunting to score a goal off Ersson. 1-3. Yadda, yadda, back and forth, blaaah. Sidney enters the zone with Bunting, 2 on 1, but Ersson was ready. Sid circled back around and set up Tomasino. 1-4, but more importantly it allowed Sidney to tie Mario in assists. They both have 1,033 assists, which ranks 12th all-time in NHL history.
Second period –
Flyers came out of their fog, and were ready to start the 2nd period, First, Cates scored to make it 2- 4. Then Sean Couturier dripped the shoulder on Letang, and made it 3-4.
Flyers tried to tie the game, but Malkin’s mama told him to ‘Knock them out’. He again connected with Bunting for another goal. 3-5.
Third Period –
Yadda, yadda, back and forth, blaaah. Flyers were hoping to get a quick 2 goals to tie the game, but Sidney’s ass said no, as he ran over a guy to get the puck out of the zone. He did his best Ivan Drago, and screamed, “I’ll do it myself”, as he got an empty net goal.
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is to sing loud for all to hear”.
So say it with me …
All the P.H staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Thursday. Whatever it may be, enjoy and well see you for the next game.
