Grab a coffee, Red Bull, cocaine, Mt Dew because it’s gonna be a late one.

Early trip to the west coast for our Penguins, who currenty sit at 2-1-0 (4 points). After 2 solid wins, the Pens took one on the chin at home against the Rangers on Saturday night. Nonwithstanding the 6-1 loss, I think we’d all take 4 points after the first 3 games before the season started.

I know it’s early but my goodness, wins and loss aside, this team looks like it’s having fun. I don’t know enough about HC Dan Muse yet but there is a noted difference in the way the boys are playing this season. The last few years were rough. But this season the Pens came out each game with a fire in their bellies that we haven’t seen in several seasons. Is the simple answer that Mike Sullivan’s system put too much pressure and restraints on the team? It’s way to early to truly know for sure.

Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson all look rejuvenated. And as we all suspected, Justin Brazeau is on pace for 100 goals.

This will be our first look at 3rd overall pick Beckett Sennecke. Kid had a goal on his first shot in the Ducks first game. Lemieux-esqe. His name reminds me of someone who plays golf while wearing a white belt with dark pants.

Future Penguin John Gibson was traded to the Red Wings in the offseason, Lukas Dostal will likely be in net for the Ducks.
I follow hockey pretty religously and struggle to name more than 3 current Ducks from memory.

I’m under no illusions that the Penguins can stay this pace for the entire season. But for now, I’m gonna chug some coffee, rip 6 milly Zyn pouches and get pumped for this game.
Remember kids, in the wise words of John Daly: Caffeine plus nicotine = protein.
