Twelve seasons have passed since the second of three lockouts Gary Bettman has been commissioner of the NHL, and the League is preparing to add a 31st team with a 32nd likely coming in the next five years. It is as vital an indication for the League as any that the sport is as popular as it has ever been, and that the League is thriving in spite of the loss of two half-seasons and one full season in Bettman’s term. Metro Division Preview
Hello everyone. It is August 1st which means I have to start getting into the whole writing mode again. How should I do that? I asked myself. By making bold predictions that will inevitably end up being wrong and getting a lot of shit for it in the process, I answered myself. Man, I hate my inner dialogue.
Sheary Signed
The Pens have avoided an arbitration hearing and signed Sheary to a 3 year, 9 million dollar contract, with an AAV of 3 million. That’s a decent price based on production, albeit a strain on the pens current cap situation.
The pens now have 22 players under contract with 3,280,000.00 in cap space, and no third line center.
Sheary will be a UFA at the end of his three year deal.
